It was one of the scariest horror films I remember watching when I was younger. For my sister, it was Friday the 13th and Halloween, but for me it was definitely Evil Dead. I loved it but it still scared the **** out of me.

Evil Dead (if you don’t know the film) is about a group of young people that go off into the woods on holiday and encounter an evil spirit who possesses them one by one.

Key parts I remember are:

- when one of the girls is looking out the window with her back to her friends who are playing a game of cards. She’s guessing (correctly) every card her friend is holding up even though she can’t see them. Then her voice starts changing and it’s all downhill from there.

- when said girl stabs another girl with a pencil

- when one of them gets attacked by a tree (that was some scary shit)

There were 2 sequels to Evil Dead 1 but I didn’t really like them. They adopted a comedic and satirical theme, and I guess I was expecting it to kinda be as scary as the first part.

Oh well.
